By John Cooper, VA Beach Drunk Driving Accident Injury Lawyer
Christopher Alan Sell was not only driving drunk in Virginia Beach but he had been drinking underage.
Worse still he drove into a tree, injuring one of his friends and killing another.
Although we see many disturbing drunk driving cases as experienced Virginia Beach wrongful death attorneys, this case represents a tragic waste of lives on so many levels.
Sell, who is 20, will serve up to 16 months in jail for the drunken-driving crash in 2011 that killed his friend, the Virginian-Pilot reported.
In February he pleaded guilty to drunken driving, involuntary manslaughter, underage possession of alcohol and possessing a fake driver’s license. A Circuit Court judge sentenced him to about a year and four months jail time on the charges on May 30, 2012, according to the Virginian-Pilot with a further four years suspended.
Sell has admitted buying drinks with a fake ID at two bars and crashing his car into trees on West Neck Road, killing a 19-year-old and injuring another passenger.
The circumstances of this case could also give rise to a wrongful death claim.
Our thoughts are with the family of this 19-year-old whose life was cut short by an irresponsible night of underage drinking.
