When trucks collide massive forces are unleashed that can have horrific consequences for drivers.

See this video of a truck crash.

Progress-Index.com reported Virginia State Police information that a 33-year-old man from North Carolina was behind the wheel of a 2006 Peterbilt tractor-trailer going south on I-85 when he veered off the left side of the roadway early in the morning on April 18.

His truck hit a guardrail along with the Sycamore Street overpass.  The reason for this crash is unclear but we know fatigue is often a factor in early morning truck crashes.

“The impact caused the trailer to cross over into the northbound lanes of the interstate where it was struck by a 2000 International box truck driven by a 40-year-old man from Pennsylvania,” the progress-index.com reported.

The driver of the box truck was wearing a seat belt. Nevertheless, he suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond

The driver of the Peterbilt tractor trailer was not wearing a seat belt. He suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries.

This driver is facing a charge of reckless driving charge and failure to wear a safety belt.

As experienced Virginia Beach, VA tractor trailer injury attorneys we hope these drivers make a complete recovery. Almost invariably when big rigs are involved in accidents the consequences are very serious.

If you have been injured by a reckless truck driver, you should consider contacting an experienced Virginia trucking accident attorney to make a claim.
