Pradaxa, a blood thinning drug, has become the subject of a number of lawsuits amid concern it could cause life threatening bleeding.
While a small number of lawsuits have been filed over this drug, our experienced Virginia Beach dangerous drug attorneys, believe many more people have suffered side effects and the number of lawsuits will multiply in the coming months.
See this video about Pradaxa lawsuits.
Pradaxa (dabigatran etexilate mesylate) is a blood-thinning medicine that was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2010.
Like so many other dangerous drugs we see, it didn’t take long for the downside to become apparent. Since its approval it has been linked to uncontrolled bleeding, cardiac arrest and death. From October 2010 through August 2011, about 371,000 patients were prescribed Pradaxa in the United States.
Boehringer Ingelheim, the German manufacturer of the anti-clotting drug has confirmed about 260 cases of fatal bleeding worldwide linked to Pradaxa, the Pradaxa Lawsuits Center reports.
At least three lawsuits have been filed over this dangerous drug. We expect to see many more.
One of the plaintiffs Garland Lege claims the drug was given to him to control a heart condition. He suffered gastrointestinal bleeding and had to have surgery to remove part of his colon.
Our experienced dangerous drugs attorneys have reported on a number of potentially deadly side effects in drugs that have sparked lawsuits including the diabetes drug Actos and its link to bladder cancer.
