By John Cooper, Virginia Beach Car Accident Injury Lawyer
Wrong way accidents are as inexplicable as they are potentially deadly. In a recent crash on Interstate 64 in Huntington, West Virginia (WV) police say a motorist driving the wrong way up an exit ramp, caused a double fatal wreck.
As experienced Virginia Beach auto accident attorneys, we see a number of wrong way crashes.
The West Virginia accident occurred on March 9, 2012. Police said a pickup truck driving the wrong way up the exit ramp at around 3:30 a.m. hit an SUV that was carrying a family of five.
The driver and a passenger in the pickup truck were killed on the I-64, Metro News reported.
The road was closed for eight hours following the double fatal wreck westbound near the West 17th Street exit.
When a driver is going the wrong way he or she is clearly at fault. In some cases fatigue may have a role to play or the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. Or it may have been due to a lapse in concentration.
In a recent report we noted how a driver going the wrong way on the I-64 in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area hit another car, hurting a woman and injuring five.
And a solider from Newport News is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a wrong way crash on the I-64 in Newport News that killed two students from Christopher Newport University.
Our thoughts are with the victims of these senseless accidents.
