By John Cooper, Virginia Beach Trucking Accident Injury Lawyer
Three people have been killed in an early morning wreck involving multiple trucks in Powhatan County, Virginia (VA).
As experienced Virginia Beach trucking accident attorneys, we are appalled at the loss of life in this accident. It demonstrates again the potentially deadly nature of accidents involving big rigs. The accident took place on the morning of March 26, 2012. Details are still emerging about it.
Virginia Department of Transportation officials said detours will remain in place throughout the day at Bell Road on the US 60 in Powhatan County near Richmond after a wreck involving four tractor-trailers and a dump truck led to three deaths, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
The highway authorities confirmed the fatalities just after 8 a.m. on March 26, 2012. Eastbound traffic was detoured to state Route 627 and then to state Route 13. Westbound traffic was being rerouted to state Route 684 and state Route 629 before getting back into to U.S. 60.
State police responded to the wreck at 5:13 a.m. on March 26. The cause of this wreck remains unclear. Given the fact that the accident happened early in the morning driver fatigue may have been a factor.
As experienced VA Beach truck accident lawyers we see tiredness causing many crashes. Other factors in truck accidents include badly maintained trucks and load shifting. And there have been cases in which a truck driver may even be drinking or using drugs while driving.
Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased in this terrible accident.
