Pedestrian is hit by a Truck and Injured in Newport News

By John Cooper, Newport News Pedestrian Injury Lawyer

Newport News’ Jefferson Avenue is an infamous location for auto pedestrian accidents. The busy highway saw another serious accident on March 15, 2012, when a man was hit by a truck.

Police said 36-year-old Christopher Moyet, of Newport News, VA was walking in the street near the intersection of Jefferson and Industrial Park Drive, when he was seriously injured, the Daily Press reported.

Charges are unlikely to be brought against the truck driver, say police. As experienced Newport News auto accident lawyers, we hope the victim recovers from his serious injuries.

Jefferson Avenue is the scene of many accidents involving pedestrians. In October, 2011, a 35-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car on Jefferson Avenue close to Morris Drive.

As Newport News accident injury attorneys, we are concerned about a spate of pedestrian deaths in cities such as Newport News, Hampton and Chesapeake, VA.

In January 2012, my colleague Jim Hurley reported on two pedestrian deaths in Hampton in as many days.

Pedestrian deaths raise the prospect of wrongful death lawsuits, even if charges are not brought, as was the case with the fatalities in Hampton.

Our Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA based personal injury law firm, has considerable expertise in these kinds of cases. See our recent article about crosswalk injuries and pedestrian rights.
